Today’s Journey Tarot Symbolism from “Today’s Journey Tarot, A Traveler’s Guide” Mother of Earth
The Mother of Earth shows a zoo worker feeding a bottle to a baby polar bear. She is in the bear’s habitat and lovingly holds him on her lap while feeding him. The white habitat has a geometric design and there is an opening looking out to the exterior environment. She wears green scrubs with yellow and brown shoes.
This card represents the very best part of all of us, our ability to give unconditional love. The Mother of Earth is sharing her love and warmth. She volunteers to do this work because she knows how important and vital it is to give of herself. It is cold here in the bear’s habitat but she is not concerned about her own comfort, only that of the baby bear. Nurturing helps us grow. Without it we cannot survive. The infant cub represents fertility and growth. The womb-like geometric design of the habitat symbolizes the building blocks of life. Her green scrubs stand out like the persistence of life in the harshness of winter. Her shoes represent a balance of mind and body.
