She holds a large ornate cup – the only cup in this suit that is closed. The Queen gazes at the cup. This is the emotional Queen who closely guards those emotions within the cup. Today’s Journey Tarot’s Mother of Water is the modern version of her. She stares out a window as the rain falls outside. She too is reflective, and keeps her emotional self in check. The large cup she holds over her heart guards her emotions. She is not actually in contact with the water, but also surrounded by it in the form of the rain and it provides the emotional veil through which she views the world.

This knight is riding forth to meet his destiny and pursuing a path of self discovery. Since cups are the suit of the emotions, he is seeking to learn emotional expression, which may mean that he offers his love in irresponsible ways. Today’s Journey Tarot’s Youth of Water celebrates life to the fullest. He surfs the waves with abandon in his pursuit of the joys of life. This is the approach he takes in life and relationships so like the knight, his emotional immaturity causes him to be careless with the emotions of others.
