The Queen of Cups sits on a throne decorated with a scallop shell and mermaids. Her throne is near the water’s edge and her foot is in contact with the water. She holds a large ornate cup – the only cup in this suit that is closed. The Queen gazes at the cup. This is the emotional Queen who closely guards those emotions within the cup. Today’s Journey Tarot’s Mother of Water is the modern version of her. She stares out a window as the rain falls outside. She too is reflective, and keeps her emotional self in check. The large cup she holds over her heart guards her emotions. She is not actually in contact with the water, but also surrounded by it in the form of the rain and it provides the emotional veil through which she views the world.
