Today’s Journey Tarot One of Water – Ace of Cups
The element associated with the suit of Cups is water. Water represents the emotions on all levels from the highest devotion to the basest fears. The Ace of Cups shows a hand emerging from a cloud. It holds an overflowing cup or chalice. There are symbols on the cup and a white dove holding a communion wafer seems to be hovering above or about to dive in. This card symbolizes universal love, peace, wisdom and the spiritual gifts of life. It is almost always a favorable card. The aces from the Tarot suggest the ultimate of the attributes of the suit – in this case the attribute of unconditional, divine love. In Today’s Journey Tarot, the One of Water has no symbols – only the sea in all of its many aspects from calm to chaotic. The range of emotions is expressed by the diverse conditions of the water and these emotions will be exhibited within the suit. The One has been expanded to contain the entire emotional spectrum.

The King of Wands is a confident leader. He knows what he wants and he goes after it. He has a fiery spirit and easily influences others. The Rider/Waite/Smith deck symbolizes this as a king on a yellow throne with lion and salamander designs. There is a little salamander at his feet as well and on his robe. He wears a red cap, lion pendant, and yellow crown. Upon further study, the meanings of these symbols are revealed. The Today’s Journey Tarot deck’s Father of Fire shows the modern version of a successful leader of industry. He is in his opulent skyscraper office, doing business on his phone. It is obvious that this is a man driven by passion to succeed and his accomplishments are apparent.

Today’s Journey Tarot Mother of Fire – Queen of Wands
The Queen of Wands traditionally symbolizes someone who is sure of herself and motivates others. She is filled with controlled passion, has a magnetic personality and sometimes isn’t aware of the power she has over others. The Rider/Waite/Smith deck depicts a queen on a throne. She is holding a sunflower, has three pyramids behind her and a black cat at her feet. Everything about her is symbolic of the nature of this card and the person it represents – her gown, her crown and the throne itself. Expanding Dimensions looked at the character of this woman and chose to represent her in today’s world as a politician. The Mother of Fire shows a strong, confident, dynamic leader as she steps onto a podium to address her supporters. She smiles and waves to the crowd, certain of their support.
