Today’s Journey Tarot Six of Air – Six of Swords
The traditional depiction of the Six of Swords shows a boatman transporting a woman and child through the water. You may notice that the water is rough on the right side of the boat – where they are coming from, and smooth in the direction they are going. Obviously they are moving in the right direction. The Six of Air from Today’s Journey Tarot also portrays a journey. The car is all packed up as they travel down the highway to a new beginning. The car seems to be following a flock of geese, whose instincts lead them in the right direction.

Today’s Journey Tarot Five of Air – Five of Swords
The Five of Swords is a card about winning through the deception of others. The traditional Rider/Waite/Smith deck shows a man gathering up the swords that were carelessly left behind after a battle. He did not defeat an enemy and win the swords honorably; rather he swoops in after the battle is over to scavenge for what is left. While technically not a thief perhaps, he is dishonest. In our modern society the stereotypical character that this scenario fits is the used car salesman who will say and do anything to make a sale. Today’s Journey Tarot’s Five of Air shows just such a man, after he’s made his sale. While it warns to beware of his dishonorable or disreputable transactions it also suggests that we are responsible for what is taken from us if we don’t pay attention.
