The Youth of Fire shows a young man roaring down a country highway on his motorcycle. He wears no protective gear as he rides along, just sunglasses. His bike, shirt, and hair are red. The bike is embossed with flames. He passes by a large field of cotton. His lack of protective gear demonstrates his confidence and daring. The sunglasses reflect where he is right now. He does not see beyond that moment. Red symbolizes the intensity of his energy. The flames remind us that raw power can be destructive. The prosperous cotton field he passes represents the patience and controlled passion necessary for successful growth. The Youth does not see it.

Today’s Journey Tarot Symbolism from “Today’s Journey Tarot, A Traveler’s Guide” Child of Fire

The Child of Fire shows a boy sitting cross-legged on the floor with his back against a big overstuffed orange couch. He is mesmerized in front of a TV screen playing a video game. The Child of Fire is very passionate about his games. He plays them for hours on end excluding everything else from his life. This kind of obsession can affect relationships, jobs, and even health. It is an immature use of passion and drive. If that same energy was focused on a productive endeavor, imagine what he could accomplish. The potential would be endless. Orange is the color of sociability, which he has turned his back on. The reflected images from the game are becoming his reality.  Sunshine streams in the window behind him offering an alternative, but his entire focus is on the artificial light from the screen. The coloring on the floor is not even or balanced suggesting the mind’s influence impeding growth. Heavy beams hang over his head. They are the weight of his obsession.
