Today’s Journey Tarot Symbolism from “Today’s Journey Tarot, A Traveler’s Guide” Key 5 Tradition

Key 5 shows a yellow stone building with a red domed roof and multi-colored stained glass windows. The yellow stone of the building represents a rigid mind set; the red dome is a symbol of power and prestige. The colored glass in the windows stands in contrast to the cold structure of the stone symbolizing that the potential for enlightenment is always present even in the most rigid circumstances. This symbolism is repeated above in the blue sky of spirituality breaking through the gray clouds of doubt and fear. The green grass represents growth and the white sidewalk, purity. They are separated from the structure by the dark stone foundation. The entrance is even further removed. The building is set above the road to give the impression of authority. The Key’s number, 5 symbolizes humanity’s flexibility and freedom to change.

Today’s Journey Tarot Symbolism from “Today’s Journey Tarot, A Traveler’s Guide” Key 4 Law

Key 4 shows a formal garden with green grasses and shrubs sculpted into geometric designs. This card expresses Universal law. Just as the gardener has kept this garden in perfect order, there is a design to the Universe that never changes. The armillary, which sits at a crossroads, charts the stars and planets as they move in their fixed patterns. The gardener’s job is to preserve order by maintaining the plants he oversees. His sky blue shirt represents the peacefulness found when all things are in balance, his pants and shoes, the stability of the earth.  The armillary features a fleur-de-lis design. Its three petals symbolize the union of body, mind, and spirit necessary for perfect harmony. The white stone pillar is the law’s foundation and the white path is humanity’s. The color suggests purity, which does not discriminate. The dog represents the natural world that is also governed by immutable order. This law is so absolute that every kingdom; animal, plant, and mineral are subject to it.
