The Four of Air shows a boxer between rounds. He is taking a mandatory rest before going back into the fight. Most of us rarely get enough rest or down time. In sports, time outs are required and expected but in life we often have little time to relax. It is important to recharge and refill ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The trainer represents the loving care and encouragement we can give ourselves during times of respite, even if it is only for a few minutes. During these times we heal from the stress of our lives. The boxer’s yellow trunks suggest that his activity is more mental than physical. He is preparing to go back to the fight.
